Role

Research, Product Design and Product Management

About

Domino’s wanted to transform the way customers order pizza by bringing the pizza creation process into the customer’s living room - without the mess.

I was a part of an embedded, multidisciplinary, co-located team. We were engaged to recreate the existing Domino’s Pizza Chef experience by transforming the experience into augmented reality. This augmented reality experience aimed to creatively engage with their customers by allowing them to customise their pizza, see their creation before placing their order, and have some fun in the process.

Following the launch of Domino’s AR Pizza Chef experience, Domino’s went on to win the Omni-Experience Innovator Award for New Pizza Chef with Augmented Reality at the 2019 IDC Digital Transformation Summit in Singapore.

Project Lifecycle

Research > Define > Design > Usability Test > Develop > QA > Deploy

Key Activities

  • Research of gaming and augmented reality experiences that are currently succeeding in the market;

  • Worked with Domino’s to understand the pizza-making process, the pizza quality requirements, and their business goals for the update, which included:

  • Eating many flavours of pizza, all in the name of research;

  • Measuring and weighing uncooked and cooked ingredients, all in the name of pizza physics; and

  • Researching food-based puns, all in the name of fun and hidden easter eggs.

  • Co-designed the experience with the Domino’s team during ideation and definition phase activities;

  • Created interactive prototypes for user testing;

  • Developed usability testing scenarios;

  • Moderation document creation for user testing;

  • Conducting, documenting and reporting on user testing;

  • Created the user stories, storyboards, acceptance criteria and functional requirements for the final designs;

  • Communicated the design flows and experience to the lead UI designer, 3D artist and development team;

  • Coordinating client feedback and amending the designs and functional requirements;

  • Reporting on the progress of design, development and testing;

  • Planning and grooming the backlog of features for future phase functionality;

  • Validating functionality and executing test cases and testing scenarios;

  • Preparation and execution of Go-Live release.
